Four Fun Activities to Do at Fisherman’s Wharf

August 23, 2019 by beachstreetgrill Leave a Comment

San Francisco is one of the most unique cities in the country, which means there’s always something wild, fun, and sometimes outrageous to do in every neighborhood. Fisherman’s Wharf is no exception. Here are a few ways to experience the quirky side of the city at the Wharf.

Museum Hop

Fishermans Wharf of San Francisco sign

Fair warning to tourists: the Wharf’s museums aren’t exactly of the same caliber as the Met, but they’re worthwhile nonetheless. Musée Mécanique houses old school arcade games and their even older-school (think: early 20th Century!) mechanical counterparts. Fans of the weird and creepy might appreciate the San Francisco Dungeon, which celebrates the darker side of the city. The younger crowd will love the Museum of 3D Illusions, filled with interactive, three-dimensional optical illusions that make the perfect Instagram backdrop.

Explore Pier 39

The landmark attraction at this shopping and entertainment area is the Aquarium of the Bay, home to over 20,000 sea creatures. Pier 39 is also a great place to celebrate local musicians and street performers. But the real stars of the Pier 39 show are the sea lions; up to 900 of them can be found during the winter months at the adjacent marina!

Bike the City

Fisherman’s Wharf is a haven for tours of all kinds: sightseeing tours, whale tours, Segway tours—you name it. But there’s nothing like experiencing the city with the wind in your hair as you explore by bike. Numerous companies offer guided bike tours or GPS-activated audio tours for those who prefer to explore alone. One popular route takes visitors across the Golden Gate, downhill to Sausalito, then back to the Wharf on the Sausalito Ferry. Worried about those steep inclines? Hybrid bikes make shifting gears effortless.

Get Your Food On

After all that biking and exploring, you’re certain to work up an appetite! Take a lunch break at Fisherman’s Wharf with a healthy, organic meal at Beach Street Grill. From comfort food to gluten-free options, every member of the family will walk away with a full belly. We know that dining in a touristy area can get expensive, so we offer specials to help you save on favorite menu items like the Beyond Burger and seafood fresh from the bay. Visit Beach Street Grill for your next meal at Fisherman’s Wharf, or call us at (415) 867-1711 to make reservations for your group of ten or more.
