We start with the family recipe passed down from Grandma Sophie. It’s made from scratch every day with fresh quality ingredients from her 100 year old Danish recipe. We serve pancakes for breakfast, brunch and lunch and freshly mixed batter is one of the key ingredients to creating the fluffy lift you want in a perfectly crafted pancake.
Pancake Batter Preparation
While pancakes seem like a simple easy to prepare dish, getting them just right is a craft that takes time and know how. To get the perfect finished product, you need to start off with the perfect mix of ingredients. If you let the batter sit too long it will thicken so timing and understanding of how all components work together is important. At the Beach Street Grill we want to make sure that get the same texture and taste each time you’re here. Overmixing batter makes the pancakes tough and that’s not what we want. Cooking of the Pancakes
So you’ve prepared yourself with success with delicious ingredients, in the right combination and your batter is ready. Next we consider three things; heat, cooking surface and oil choice. You want the griddle hot enough so that it will spread, if it’s too hot the pancake will set before it’s had a chance to spread into that beautifully shape breakfast treat. Using a flavorless oil will allow the flavor of the pancake to really shine through. All our Gluten Free pancakes are cooked on a separate cooking surface to ensure no cross-contamination.
A great pancake doesn’t need a lot of toppings and syrup. They’re light and fluffy and melt in your mouth. A pad of butter when they are piping hot will easily melt and prime your pancake for that first amazing bite. At the Beach Street Grill we offer regular or gluten free pancakes.
